India's present research status


India's present research status:
1) India's receiving 2,00,000 Full time research scholars annually. India is producing 9,000 Ph.D's per year. Four times lower than US, which is having 1/4th of Indian Population.
2) India- 4 researchers : 10,000 labour force; China- 18 researchers: 10,000 labour force; Brazil- 7:10,000 & Kenya- 6:10,000!!. Kindly note India is far behind Kenya.
3) No. of Papers published by the researchers, India 25,000 in 2000 & 90,000 in 2013; Whereas China from 50,000 in 2000 to 3,10,000. Considerable increase in papers by China.
4) India most importantly of having 600 Universities, 40 CSIR labs, Premier institutions like IISc, 16 IITs & 5 IISER is the long standing talking point on whether there is no takers for research or no lab facilities for doing research.
